Friendship

Friendship is referenced throughout the bible. We can call Jesus ‘God, deliverer, teacher’ but we can also call him friend.  By Jesus example and his teachings, he instructs us how to be good friends to one another. One of which is to show compassion to others. Friendship is one of our values and its importance is embedded everyday in how we encourage our children to be with each other and with others in the wider community.

John 15:12-14 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

1 Peter 4: 8-10 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
